I’ve always wanted to write. Since I was a freckle faced, pig-tailed kid, I’ve always had my nose buried in a book, lost in an alternate and magical world. When stressed my books calmed me. When depressed they cheered me. When bored they entertained me.
I’ve always wanted to write. I want to create those worlds. I’ve wanted to calm, cheer and entertain others. Life got in the way – mundane things, work, marriage, the garden – really the list is endless. Well, that’s what I told myself but in reality I was suffering from a terminal case of procrastination.
Once I knew what was stopping me I looked around for a cure and stumbled across the quote above and it inspired me, so now I’m going to write that long dreamed about novel. Procrastination can be tricky though so, as an added precaution, I’ve decided to set myself a target (finish the novel in 3 months) and openly share my journey and learning’s in, what promises to be, a novel experience.
In the spirit of full disclosure – I have already drafted the outline, plot and summary and have written 13,595 words of the novel. The rest will be written over the next three months – procrastination allowing….
